What is Jeepneychronicles?

Jeepneychronicles is a blog that is the brainchild of  yours truly that showcases the stories of people who would like to share to the people their tale of whatever they experienced riding on a Jeepney.

Though the site mainly caters to Jeepney stories (the blog does carry the name Jeepney), this does not mean that you can’t share your experiences on other Public Utility Vechicles (PUVs) here. The site welcomes ALL kinds of stories on ALL types of public transport, so why carry Jeepneychronicles as the title of the blog? If you are that interested please do read on.

History:

The idea to make the Jeepneychronicles blog came about when I met our substitute professor for our English course in UST, Mam Filip. The thing was she wasn’t really going to be our sub prof because according to her our class’ sched was very incovenient for her, so till our class gets its permanent prof she was going to chat with us, “tutal , di ko rin naman kayong magiging studyante e” were the words she told us before.

Our classes went on with no news regarding our permanent prof so we conitnued on our “chatting” sessions with mam when she eventually shared she would like to make an “FX Chronicles” book that compiles all the stories she had while riding the FX. It’s from that idea that I eventually conceptualized the blog.

Early Beginnings:

To be quite honest, the earlier concept behind Jeepneychronicles was grander than it is now. I wanted it to be a website instead of a blog and that it would daily showcase stories from people who are internet savy enough to want to read funny, weird or even everyday stories about their experience riding the jeep. After much thought though I wanted things to start off small, so hence the birth of http://jeepneychronicles.blogspot.com/

The thing was, I only got to post some of my stories with others coming from my friends. I kept setting aside the blog layout design and adding more stories because of one thing or another. Now, the blog is practically dead and I’m going to relocate here to wordpress. I really can’t say that I can be 100% sure that I can keep up with the updates and all but I can assure you that things are going to be different this time around.

Blog Changes:

The good thing about the old blog was that I got feedbacks from RL friends, OL friends and bloggers that they liked the idea of a blog like this. However, they have other stories to tell besides their experiences with the jeep and would like to have something of that sort made. The first thing that I thought was to create a new blog that is entirely about stories on other PUVs with Jeepneychronicles still retaining the “strictly jeepney stories only” idea.

Eventually I dropped the separate blogs idea and just infused all commute stories into one, which is the NEW Jeepneychronicles blog. That explains the overall concept behind it which you can now see at the top of this page.

I stuck with the name Jeepneychronicles because it is catchier than the other blog titles I have in mind, plus, add the fact that when it comes to public transport, the first thing that comes into mind is the Jeepney, which is not only the staple PUV we have in the country, it also serves as the country’s icon (regardless of whatever people may say about it).

So, what now?
